(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ A tragic accident on West Broadway has claimed the life of a moped driver. According to authorities, 60-year-old David Porter of Columbia passed away on November 19th at a local hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash. His next of kin have been notified.

The incident occurred on November 7th around 2 p.m., when Columbia Police responded to reports of a collision between a moped and a vehicle near Heather Lane. Initial investigations revealed that Porter was riding his moped westbound on West Broadway when he crossed into the passing lane and collided with a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old woman, also from Columbia.

Porter was ejected from his moped and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle was unharmed.

The case has been identified as number 2024-009805 by authorities. This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department.
