TelAve News/10692377
DICKINSON, N.D. - TelAve -- The DSU Heritage Foundation unveiled the Sanford Sports Complex*, a $7 million-dollar all-weather soccer and softball facility, providing a community space for youth, high school, and collegiate sports teams to practice and compete. The complex boasts five soccer fields, four softball fields, a concession stand, and ample parking.
The Sanford Sports Complex is a partnership between Dickinson State University, Dickinson Public Schools, and Dickinson Parks & Recreation. The Dickinson community currently has more than 850 youth soccer and softball athletes. The Dickinson High School softball team, the 2021 North Dakota Class A State Champions, will also utilize the Sanford Sports Complex for their games.
"To improve the athletic experience for our student-athletes and enable the growth of youth sports in Dickinson, the Sanford Sports Complex is a great asset for our community. This will give us the ability to host conference championships and national tournaments on the softball field," Stephen Easton, President, Dickinson State University. "Our Blue Hawk softball team deserves the opportunity to play in a first-class facility, and local youth softball and soccer teams will have a safer place to practice and play. Inviting young student-athletes onto our campus will create awareness about what Dickinson State has to offer them in the future."
