Originally established in New York in the nineteenth century, Dodd, Mead & Company operated for more than a century as a major American publisher before the original corporate entity ceased operations in the late twentieth century. The DODD, MEAD® trademark has since been lawfully acquired and is now held by its present owner, who has relaunched the imprint for contemporary publishing use.

The revival restores Dodd, Mead & Company as an active publishing name while preserving its historical identity and legacy.
