Earth Observation Re-Priced: LCC Asia Pacific Releases Mid-Year Satellite Sector Update
TelAve News/10901975
Record capital raises, reopened IPO window and accelerating M&A see satellite Earth Observation re-priced as strategic infrastructure. Full report: lccib.com
SYDNEY - TelAve -- Boutique investment bank LCC Asia Pacific has released its mid-year update on the global Satellite & Earth Observation (EO) sector, following one of the most eventful six-month periods in the industry's commercial history.
The report — which updates and significantly broadens the firm's March 2026 briefing on venture capital in the sector — finds that EO is no longer priced as a venture-stage technology theme but increasingly as strategic national-security and resource-security infrastructure. Developments covered include ICEYE's landmark raise at a valuation above €10 billion, the reopening of the IPO window with HawkEye 360's NYSE listing, MDA Space's proposed €567 million acquisition of CLS, the proposed combination of Europe's three space primes, and sharp — if volatile — re-ratings across listed comparables.

The update takes a whole-of-sector view spanning public markets, landmark private capital raises, announced transactions, government demand signals, CubeSat and hyperspectral trends, and the critical-minerals convergence — with particular focus on Asia-Pacific and Australian positioning, and the widening universe of strategic acquirers expected to drive deal activity over the next 12–24 months.
"The re-rating we have seen in this sector over six months is without precedent — capital, defence priorities and critical-minerals policy are now converging on space-derived data. For Asia-Pacific companies and investors, positioning ahead of the consolidation wave is the strategic imperative," said Nicholas Assef, Founder & Principal of LCC Asia Pacific.
