Emergency Shelter Available in St. Louis January 16-18, 2026

TelAve News/10886137
~ As the temperatures continue to drop in St. Louis, the City's Department of Human Services and its partners are taking action to provide shelter for those in need. With overnight temperatures expected to reach the teens, the City has activated level 3 of its Code Blue plan, which will bring the total number of emergency shelter beds available to 450. This is in addition to the 400 year-round shelter beds already in place.

The City is also offering walk-up shelter options for those seeking immediate refuge from the cold. These locations can be found by contacting the United Way 211 Helpline or speaking with a coordinator at a designated rally point. Families and individuals with pets can also find shelter through appointments made with the United Way.

In order to ensure that no one is left out in the cold, transportation will be provided from rally points around the city to available shelters. Each rally point has a warming bus or indoor facility, as well as a Metro Call-A-Ride shuttle with both a driver and an outreach worker on board.

For those who require alternative transportation, they can contact the United Way 211 Helpline by dialing 211. The City urges anyone in need of shelter during these frigid temperatures to take advantage of these resources and stay safe and warm.
