"Feels Warm at -6°C": British Inventor's Cooling Device Sparks Buzz Across Beauty, Sport and Even Horse Performance
TelAve News/10893313
From non-invasive facelifts to faster recovery and equine cooling,
JAVEA, Spain - TelAve -- A patented UK-developed cooling system is gaining attention for its wide-ranging uses, including beauty treatments, injury recovery and animal performance, with users surprised that temperatures as low as -6°C on the skin surface can feel comfortable.
A British inventor has sparked growing attention with a cooling device that users say can tighten skin, support recovery and even help horses perform, all while operating at temperatures typically associated with extreme cold.
The system, known as The Box Cryo, has been developed over more than a decade by Graham Smith, originally from Southampton, UK, and now based in Xabia, Spain.
At the centre of the attention is a surprising claim: despite cooling the skin surface to as low as -6°C, many users report that the sensation is not uncomfortable.
"People expect it to feel freezing," says Smith. "But because the temperature is controlled and stabilised, the experience is very different."

Unlike traditional ice packs or cryotherapy chambers, The Box Cryo uses a system of connected wraps that maintain a precise, consistent skin surface temperature (SST).
These wraps can be applied to different parts of the body, including the face, and gradually bring the temperature down over several minutes.
One of the most talked-about uses is in cosmetic treatments. Users report firmer-looking skin, a reduced appearance of wrinkles, and noticeable tightening after a single session. Treatments typically last around 30 minutes, with repeat sessions used to maintain results 3 to 4 months later.
The technology is also attracting attention in sports and rehabilitation. Early users reported reduced inflammation, faster recovery between sessions, and less post-exercise soreness.
Temperatures can be adjusted depending on the application, from mild cooling at +5°C to more intensive levels approaching -6°C skin surface. It is even used for arthritis treatment with a wearable mitten that allows the treatment to be carried out.

A helmet-style version of the system has been developed, aimed at contact sports, emergency response scenarios, and situations where controlled cooling may be beneficial.
Fat cells have also been able to be destroyed using this system. And after just one treatment, instant results are visible.
In a further development, the system has also been adapted for horses. Specialist wraps and blankets are being used to manage heat, support recovery after training and improve overall performance readiness.
Smith says the system has gone through continuous refinement over the past 10 years.
"We did not stop at the first version. We kept improving it until we could control temperature precisely, and that changed everything. Now we have babies and people cooling blankets," he says.
The company is actively seeking partners worldwide.
