~ A new accreditor has been established by a consortium of six state public university systems, known as the Commission for Public Higher Education. The unveiling of this alternative accreditation system was celebrated today by Governor Ron DeSantis in Boca Raton, Florida.

Governor DeSantis expressed his belief that Florida has set an example for the rest of the country in reclaiming higher education and is now working to make that success permanent. He stated that this means breaking the monopoly held by activist-controlled accreditation and announced the establishment of the Commission for Public Higher Education as an alternative.

The governor explained that this new accreditor will focus on ensuring that higher education prioritizes student achievement without being influenced by ideological capture. With transparent, rigorous, and outcomes-based standards, the Commission for Public Higher Education aims to ensure that Florida remains a leader in higher education for years to come.

The CPHE is a consortium of higher education systems from multiple states and will offer a new accreditation model. This model will prioritize student outcomes, process efficiency, and excellence in public postsecondary education. By establishing rigorous and adaptable standards and practices, CPHE will ensure that colleges and universities maintain academic quality and operational excellence on behalf of their students.
