~ Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of former Representative J. Bruce Hoffmann, who passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the age of 78. The Governor's directive was addressed to Brian Fienemann, Director of Real Estate Management and Development, and John Bailey, Mayor of the City of Tallahassee.

Representative Hoffmann served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives for District 114 from 1998 to 2000. He was proud to represent his hometown of Miami Springs in Miami-Dade County. After his time in the House, he relocated to Tallahassee to work in the Bush Administration. He held positions as General Counsel for the Florida Department of Management Services and the Florida Department of Revenue. In 2011, he was appointed as Chief of Staff for the Florida Lottery.

The former Representative is survived by his wife and son. He will be remembered for his commitment to public service and his efforts to better his community and the state of Florida.

In recognition of his contributions, Governor DeSantis has directed that flags be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol in Tallahassee and all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the City on Friday, December 5th from sunrise to sunset. This gesture serves as a tribute to Representative Hoffmann's legacy and dedication to serving others.
