Georgia: Gov. Kemp Announces Appointments for District Attorney, State Court

ATLANTA ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Brian P. Kemp revealed the appointment of three individuals to key judicial and prosecutorial positions in Georgia. These appointments include Amber Bennett Dally as District Attorney for the Alcovy Judicial Circuit, Richard E. "Richy" Braun, Jr. as District Attorney for the Atlantic Judicial Circuit, and Douglas Ray Woodruff to the State Court of Catoosa County.
Amber Bennett Dally, who currently serves as Chief Assistant District Attorney in Newton County, will be filling the vacancy left by the appointment of Honorable Randal M. McGinley to the Superior Court of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit. Dally has been a part of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit since 2014 and has extensive experience prosecuting high-profile felonies such as murder cases and crimes against children. She also oversees and manages the Newton County Office while serving as prosecutor for drug court within the circuit. Dally is a strong advocate for accountability courts and their goal of rehabilitation, and she sits on the Advisory Board for both Newton County Adult Felony Drug Court and Veterans Treatment Court programs.

Dally's impressive educational background includes graduating from Georgia Institute of Technology's Honors Program in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs and a minor in law, science, and technology. She then went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Georgia State University in 2014. Dally resides in Walton County with her husband Patrick and their two children.
Richard E. "Richy" Braun, Jr., who has been appointed as District Attorney for the Atlantic Judicial Circuit, is a lifelong resident of Liberty County and has deep roots in his community as a seventh-generation resident. He currently serves as Solicitor-General of McIntosh County and Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney for Brunswick Judicial Circuit. Braun's previous experience includes serving as City Manager for Darien City and working at law firms such as Braun & Braun LLP and Jones Osteen & Jones. In private practice, he represented various financial institutions, local governments, and governmental entities.
Braun holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia Southern University, graduating magna cum laude, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He and his wife Jennifer reside in Darien with their six children.

Douglas Ray Woodruff, who has been appointed to the State Court of Catoosa County, brings three decades of experience in civil and criminal law to his new role. He has previously served as Solicitor-General of Catoosa County and Chief Assistant Public Defender for Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit. Woodruff's legal career has seen him work in private practice, as a prosecutor, and as a criminal defense attorney.
Outside of his legal work, Woodruff is also an accomplished pianist at Rock Spring Methodist Church where he has been a member for the majority of the last 40 years. He earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and currently resides in Catoosa County with his family.
These appointments by Governor Kemp are expected to bring valuable experience and expertise to their respective positions within the judicial system in Georgia. With their diverse backgrounds and dedication to serving their communities, Dally, Braun Jr., and Woodruff are poised to make significant contributions to the Alcovy Judicial Circuit, Atlantic Judicial Circuit, and Catoosa County State Court.
