Gov. Kemp: Yamaha to Move HQ to Georgia
TelAve News/10890372
ATLANTA ~ In a major decision, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has announced its plans to relocate its U.S. headquarters to Kennesaw, Georgia after nearly 50 years of operation in California. This move comes after a meeting between Governor Brian P. Kemp and Yamaha executives at the Southeast U.S./Japan (SEUS-Japan) annual gathering in Tokyo last year.
The governor expressed his excitement about the relocation, stating that it is a testament to Georgia's business-friendly environment. He also extended an invitation to other California-based companies to consider moving to the state.
Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., known for manufacturing ATVs, boat engines, personal watercraft, and other motorized products, already has a strong presence in Georgia with over 2,300 employees. The relocation of their U.S. headquarters is expected to begin this year and continue through 2028.

Governor Kemp further highlighted the company's existing facilities in Georgia, including the 1.3-million-square-foot Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America factory in Newnan which employs approximately 2,000 Georgians. In addition, Yamaha's marine division was relocated to Kennesaw in 1999 and expanded with a Marine Innovation Center in 2023. Last year, the company also moved its motorsports operations to the state.
This decision by Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. is seen as a significant boost for Georgia's economy and job market. With thousands of employees already working at their various facilities in the state, this relocation will only further solidify their presence and contribution to Georgia's business landscape.
As Governor Kemp stated, this move serves as a clear indication of what Georgia has to offer for businesses looking for a new home. With its business-friendly policies and skilled workforce, it is no surprise that more companies are choosing Georgia as their base of operations.
