Governor Abbott Addresses Texas Veterans Of Foreign Wars Winter Conference

~ At the Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Mid-Winter conference, Governor Greg Abbott delivered a powerful speech honoring the brave service members who have served our nation on foreign lands. The conference, held annually, recognizes and celebrates the sacrifices made by these courageous individuals.
In his address, Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude to the veterans and their families for their selfless dedication to protecting our freedom and country. He emphasized that America would not be what it is today without their willingness to fight and defend our nation across the globe.
The Governor also stressed the importance of ensuring that Texans of all ages are aware of the sacrifices made by these veterans. He stated that as long as he is in office, they will have a Governor who has their back.

Joining Governor Abbott at the conference were VFW State Commander Dave Walden, VFW Officer of the Day Willie Keller, VFW State Chaplain Jim Russell, and other veterans and advocates. The event was a powerful reminder of the strength and unity within the veteran community.
During his remarks, Governor Abbott took the opportunity to thank all those who have served in uniform and continue to serve their country abroad. He highlighted that because of their bravery, Texas is home to over 1.7 million veterans and active military personnel.
The Governor also announced significant initiatives aimed at supporting veterans. He signed House Joint Resolution 133, making the franchise tax exemption for veteran-owned businesses permanent. Additionally, he designated $50 million for ibogaine clinical trials - a potential medication that could greatly improve the lives of veterans.
