Governor Abbott Announces Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund Grant To The University Of Texas At Dallas
TelAve News/10893060
~ In a move to support the growth of a vital semiconductor workforce in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has announced that The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) will receive a grant of $700,000 from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF). This grant will be used to establish a training cleanroom project on the UT Dallas campus in Dallas.
Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of investing in the future workforce of Texas, stating, "Texas is where the workforce of tomorrow is training for the high-skill, in-demand jobs that support continuous innovation in technology." He believes that this grant will help advance Texas' leadership in the semiconductor industry for years to come.
The project at UT Dallas will involve equipping a small-scale training cleanroom in the Research Operations West building on campus. This building is also home to the Center for Harsh Environment Semiconductors and Systems. The cleanroom will provide hands-on training for participants on basic cleanroom operations, safety protocols, and processing techniques. This experience will be valuable for students at all levels of education, as well as newly recruited employees in semiconductor manufacturing firms.

He believes that this facility will play a crucial role in preparing highly skilled professionals for the semiconductor industry.
Senator Bob Hall also praised this investment in Texas' future. He said, "Texas continues to lead the nation in innovation, and investments like this ensure that leadership endures for generations." He highlighted UT Dallas' role in preparing a highly skilled workforce and believes that this grant will provide students with valuable hands-on experience in an industry that is essential to both the state's economy and national security.
