~ In a move to strengthen the semiconductor supply chain and promote economic growth, Governor Greg Abbott has announced that MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc. (MPCA) will receive a $5.3 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF). This grant will support the expansion of MPCA's production facility in Killeen, which is expected to bring in over $150 million in capital investment.

Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of investing in critical supply chain resilience to ensure that Texas remains a leader in semiconductor manufacturing. He stated, "Texas invests in critical supply chain resilience to ensure the semiconductor chips we rely on to drive innovation and fuel our economy are made in Texas."

MPCA, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc., produces a variety of chemicals and materials used in the manufacturing of high-quality semiconductor chips. The company's expansion project will add 130,000 square feet of production space to their existing facility.

MPCA General Manager Lee Bauer expressed gratitude for the grant and highlighted MPCA's commitment to supporting Central Texas as a semiconductor production cluster. He stated, "MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc., nearly 30 years in the USA, is honored to receive a $5.3 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund." He also added that MPCA will continue to be an essential member of the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem.

Senator Pete Flores praised Central Texas as a hub for innovation and economic growth and emphasized the significance of MPCA's expansion for both local and national economies. He said, "The expansion of MGC Pure Chemicals America in Killeen underscores our commitment to fostering a robust semiconductor industry in our region."

Representative Hillary Hickland echoed Senator Flores' sentiments and highlighted the strategic importance of this investment for both regional economy and national security. She stated, "The $5.3 million Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant awarded to MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc. is a strategic investment in both our regional economy and our national security."

The Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund was established in 2023 through the Texas CHIPS Act, signed into law by Governor Abbott. This incentive program aims to support the state's leadership in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing. The fund is administered by the Texas CHIPS Office, a division within the Governor's Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office.

With this grant, MPCA joins a growing list of semiconductor-related companies expanding their operations in Texas. This not only creates job opportunities but also solidifies Texas' position as a leader in cutting-edge technology and manufacturing.
