Governor Abbott Appoints Bailey, Wegenhoft To Texas Physician Assistant Board

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed two new members to the Texas Physician Assistant Board. The appointments of Shane Bailey, M.D. and Jennifer Wegenhoft are set to expire on February 1, 2029.

Dr. Bailey, a cardiac electrophysiologist at Lonestar Heart and Vascular in Austin, brings a wealth of experience to the board. He is a fellow with both the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology, as well as a member of the Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Bailey holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from the University of California, Irvine and a Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University School of Medicine.

Joining Dr. Bailey on the board is Jennifer Wegenhoft, a physician assistant at Rice Medical Center in Columbus. She is an active member of several professional organizations including the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Texas Association of Physician Assistants, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. In addition to her work in healthcare, Wegenhoft also volunteers with various community organizations such as the Colorado County Fair and Columbus Little League. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Texas Tech University Health Science Center.
