TelAve News/10903210
~ In a recent press release, Governor Greg Abbott proudly announced that the crime rate in Texas has decreased for the third consecutive year under his current term. This news comes from the latest Uniform Crime Reporting data released by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to the data, the statewide crime rate has dropped by 13% in 2025. This is a significant decrease from its peak in 2022 at 2,830.14 offenses per 100,000 people. The decline has been consistent over the past three years, with a decrease of 3.3% in 2023 and 8.2% in 2024.
Governor Abbott attributes this success to his tough laws and strong support for law enforcement. He stated, "We passed the toughest bail reform package in state history, backed law enforcement, and targeted violent repeat offenders." He believes that these policies have proven to be effective and have made Texans safer.
