TelAve News/10890805
For Edmond Memorial High School's Morgan Jace Lesch, football is more than just a game—it's a reflection of his family, his drive, and his future.

EDMOND, Okla. - TelAve -- As a standout in the Class of 2029, Lesch is already turning heads on both sides of the ball, bringing an explosive combination of speed, power, and an unshakeable old-school mentality to the gridiron.

Playing linebacker, running back, and wide receiver, Lesch is a versatile weapon for Edmond Memorial. His relentless motor recently earned him Defensive Player of the Year honors, a testament to his ability to dominate the field.

By the Numbers

Lesch's physical measurables and academic standing make him a well-rounded prospect to watch:
  • Height/Weight: 6'0" | 185 lbs.
  • Speed: 11.07 in the 100m dash
  • Strength: 285 lb. Max Bench | 305 lb. Max Squat
  • Academics: 3.0 GPA

A Warrior's Mentality

When you watch Lesch play, it's easy to see shades of his favorite player, legendary linebacker Luke Kuechly. Lesch plays with a cerebral yet punishing style, highlighted by his favorite football memory from the 8th grade.

"I was blitzing up the middle, and they gave a handoff in the A gap," Lesch recalls. "I just ran straight through his soul."

That level of intensity doesn't happen by accident. Before every game, Lesch goes through a dark, focused 30-minute ritual. He finds a quiet space and visualizes the opposing team trying to hurt his family, engraving that thought into his mind to unlock an elite level of on-field aggression.

Leadership in the Locker Room

Despite his intense pre-game routine, Lesch is known as a funny, uplifting presence in the locker room. He views the team space as a sanctuary, enforcing a strict rule against leaving it dirty. "It's our home," he explains, "and you don't want a dirty home."

"The Why" Behind Number 5

Lesch wears the number 5 for a highly relatable, childhood reason. Growing up, when his parents would offer him two or three snacks, a young Morgan would confidently negotiate: "Okay, I'll have five."

But behind the lighthearted origin of his jersey number lies a deeply profound motivation. His biggest influences are his mother and father, who taught him how to be responsible both on and off the field and how to control his temper. His father, a firefighter, serves as the ultimate inspiration for his athletic journey.

"My dad risks his life every day being a firefighter, and I just get to sit here and play a game and not really have to worry about anything," Lesch says. "That's my why."
