~ Idaho Falls Police Department Seeks New Recruits for Upcoming Class of Police Officers
The Idaho Falls Police Department is on the lookout for new recruits to join their ranks as they open up applications for their next class of police officers. The department is set to hold a Practice Test and Information Meeting this Saturday, July 11th, at 8 a.m. at the Idaho Falls Police Complex, in preparation for the upcoming testing on July 25th.
Police Chief Bryce Johnson expressed his enthusiasm for welcoming new officers into the department, stating that being a police officer offers a chance to make a real difference in people's lives every day. He also highlighted the excitement and fulfillment that comes with serving such an incredible community. Chief Johnson encouraged anyone looking for a meaningful career where they can make an impact to take advantage of this opportunity.
The starting wage for new police officers is $28.00 hourly, with opportunities for pay increases upon completion of training and annual raises. Additional pay can also be earned through shift differentials, overtime, advanced certifications, and fluency in Spanish or another approved language. The department also offers benefits such as paid time off, participation in the PERSI retirement system, education assistance, and medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Interested candidates can register for testing through PublicSafetyTesting.com and must also submit an employment application through the City of Idaho Falls website. The testing process will include a written exam in the morning to assess necessary skills and abilities followed by a physical fitness test in the afternoon consisting of various exercises.
Successful candidates will then move on to the next stage of the hiring process which includes a thorough background investigation, oral interviews, and medical and psychological evaluations. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be U.S. citizens over 21 years old with a high school diploma or GED equivalent and possess a valid driver's license.
To assist potential applicants in preparing for the testing process, the Idaho Falls Police Department will be hosting a Practice Test and Information Meeting on July 11th from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Idaho Falls Police Complex. This event will provide an opportunity for candidates to meet with members of the department involved in the hiring process, gain insight into the written and physical fitness tests, and learn more about a career with IFPD.
