~ Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Stanger Drive this evening, quickly extinguishing the flames. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Homer Avenue and Stanger Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the resident had safely evacuated the home. However, there was visible fire venting from a rear bedroom window. In response, crews deployed two hose lines and were able to bring the fire under control in a timely manner.

A total of three engines, one ladder truck, a battalion chief, and two ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Two engine crews were actively involved in suppressing the fire.

The resident was transported to Idaho Falls Community Hospital for evaluation and treatment of smoke inhalation. Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries and no firefighters were harmed during the incident.

Preliminary estimates suggest that property damage is around $100,000. A fire investigator arrived at the scene and later interviewed the resident at the hospital. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

In addition to emergency responders, chaplains from Idaho Falls Fire Department also provided assistance. Idaho Falls Power and Intermountain Gas were also called in to secure utilities at the scene.
