IDAHO FALLS ~ Idaho's Oldest Rodeo, The War Bonnet Round Up, has once again been recognized as the Best Medium Rodeo in Idaho by the PRCA Wilderness Circuit. This marks the third consecutive year that the rodeo has received this prestigious award.

The City of Idaho Falls War Bonnet Round Up Advisory Committee members Krisi Staten, Kassi Jones, and Shelby Woolstenhulme were in attendance at the 2024 PRCA Wilderness Circuit Finals in Heber City, Utah to accept the award on Saturday. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in making Idaho's Oldest Rodeo a success.

Parks and Recreation Director PJ Holm expressed his gratitude for the community's support in making this achievement possible. He stated, "Receiving this award for the third time in a row is such an honor for the War Bonnet Round Up and the Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department. We want to thank our amazing community for coming out and supporting this great event each year."

The War Bonnet Round Up has been a staple event in Idaho Falls since its inception in 1911. Each year, it brings together around 500 top-quality cowboys and cowgirls to compete at Sandy Downs. With its high-energy and action-packed performances, it never fails to impress crowds of approximately 15,000 rodeo fans.

In addition to being voted as Idaho's overall medium-sized favorite rodeo among contestants, contractors, and officials, The War Bonnet Round Up has also received other notable accolades from the rodeo community. In 2021, it was unexpectedly inducted into the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame. The rodeo has also consistently received awards for having some of the best footing from competing barrel racers.
