Boise, Idaho ~ Boise, Idaho - After years of dedicated service to the Idaho State Board of Education, Governor Brad Little expressed his gratitude to Bill Gilbert and Cindy Siddoway as their terms on the board came to an end.

Governor Little commended Gilbert and Siddoway for their commitment to improving education in Idaho and strengthening the institutions that prepare students for success. He acknowledged their leadership on the State Board of Education as instrumental in the state's progress in education, while also prioritizing the needs of students and ensuring a skilled workforce for Idaho's economy.

Gilbert, who has been a member of the State Board of Education since 2019, brought a wealth of experience in business and economic development to the table. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in guiding decisions that impacted public schools, colleges, universities, and workforce development efforts in Idaho.

Siddoway joined the State Board of Education in 2021 with a strong background in agriculture, business, and community leadership. Her service has been integral in advancing the state's efforts to strengthen education and connect students with opportunities within Idaho's growing economy.

Governor Little emphasized that both Gilbert and Siddoway understand the inseparable link between education and economic opportunity. He praised them for being strong advocates for Idaho students and responsible stewards of the public education system. The Idaho State Board of Education is responsible for overseeing all aspects of public education in the state, including K-12 schools and public colleges and universities. Governor Little will announce appointments to fill these vacancies on the board at a later date.

In addition to thanking Gilbert and Siddoway for their service on the State Board of Education, Governor Little also announced his appointment of Mitch Watkins as chairman of the Idaho Transportation Board.

Watkins brings extensive experience in business, transportation, and community leadership to this role. As chairman, he will play a crucial role in guiding the Idaho Transportation Department as it continues to invest in the state's transportation infrastructure, support economic growth, and ensure safe and efficient roads and highways for Idaho families, businesses, and communities.

Governor Little expressed his appreciation for Watkins' willingness to serve in this important position. He acknowledged that with Idaho's continued growth comes both opportunities and challenges for the transportation system. However, he is confident that Watkins understands the importance of making strategic investments that keep people moving and support the state's economy. Governor Little looks forward to working with Watkins as chairman of the Idaho Transportation Board.
