Idaho: Gov. Little announces membership of the Advanced Nuclear Energy Task Force

Boise, Idaho ~ Boise, Idaho - Governor Brad Little has announced the formation of a new Advanced Nuclear Energy Task Force and has appointed its members ahead of their first meeting on Monday. The task force was created through Executive Order 2025-06, signed by Governor Little on September 22, 2025. Its purpose is to evaluate and recommend strategies that will further Idaho's leadership in nuclear energy innovation, deployment, and workforce development.

The task force will be supported by staff from the Governor's Office of Energy and Mineral Resources (OEMR) and the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Co-chaired by Lieutenant Governor Scott Bedke and INL Director John Wagner, the task force consists of a diverse group of individuals from various sectors including government, business, and education.

Some notable members include Lisa Burtenshaw, Mayor of the City of Idaho Falls; Jess Byrne, Director of the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality; Thom Carter, Vice President of Government Affairs at PacifiCorp; and Raúl Labrador, Attorney General for the State of Idaho.

The first meeting of the task force will take place on Monday, February 2nd at the Lincoln Auditorium in the Idaho State Capitol. The meeting will also be accessible virtually for those unable to attend in person. Public comment will be allowed at the end of the meeting with sign-up required at the door. Written comments can also be submitted to comments@oer.idaho.gov.
