IIT Dhanbad Alumni launch a Network of Angel Investors, called ISM Angels
TelAve News/10752980
ISM Angels is committed to invest $30M in IIT Dhanbad alumni startups in the next 10 years
BANGALORE, India - TelAve -- ISM Angels, a network of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad alumni that invests in early-stage startups announced its official launch to the public today. The angel network is known for their exclusive investments in IIT Dhanbad's tech startups.
IIT Dhanbad is one of the oldest IITs and the leading engineering schools in India. A significant number of students and alumni are choosing entrepreneurial journeys and the institute has produced a number of successful entrepreneurs.
Two of the IIT Dhanbad alumni, Rakesh Soni and Krishna Anisetty, decided to further explore the potential of IIT Dhanbad's tech startups and thereby support the development of upcoming entrepreneurial talent. They founded ISM Angels in October 2021.
"As a tech startup founder, I understand the pain, founders have to go through in the early stages. The goal of ISM Angels is to alleviate that pain a bit by providing smart money and mentorship to IIT Dhanbad entrepreneurs," says Rakesh Soni, founder of ISM Angels.

"Our vision is to invest $30M seed funding in the next 10 years and produce 5 unicorns driving at least 10x return for our members," he adds.
In a short period of time, the ISM Angels has grown to 80+ members who have been involved with startups for many years and bring a wealth of experience. We conduct one pitching session every month and invest $50,000 to $500,000 per startup in pre-seed and seed rounds.
"With angel investing, there is high ambiguity and risk. Investors would need to make high judgment calls to be successful. The goal of ISM Angels is to build a community, where investors can collaborate and share their diverse expertise to evaluate startups and invest alongside with other fellow alumni with confidence," says Krishna Anisetty, founder of ISM Angels.
ISM Angels provides an excellent platform for angel investors to get access to high quality startups, collaborate with fellow angels, invest without worrying about legal paperworks and give back to their alma mater.
ISM Angels has already invested $400K so far with a target of $3M investment in 2022. We're expecting to get 24 seed-stage startups to pitch and have 50% of them be funded this year.
