EL CAJON, Calif. - TelAve -- EL CAJON, Calif. —  Christian songwriter John Pape has released his new song "The Road."  "The Road" was inspired by a series of Bible verses known as the Romans Road. These verses present God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. The song uses the image of a road to tell this story. It takes the listener on a journey from sin and separation from God to salvation and new life in Christ.

The song blends contemporary Christian pop-rock with a Gospel message. "The Road" was written to point listeners toward Christ. Pape uses the image of traveling down a road to tell the story. Along the way, the song explores biblical truths about sin, Christ's sacrifice, grace, faith, and eternal life.

The song begins with our need for salvation. The opening lyric says, "Each step I took led me astray, further from God's perfect way." From there, the lyrics move to Christ's sacrifice on the cross. The journey then leads to calling upon His name and receiving the new life that comes through faith in Him.

The biblical foundation for the song comes from passages often called the Romans Road. They include Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9–10, and Romans 10:13.

"The message of the Romans Road has helped people understand God's plan of salvation," said Pape. "I wanted to tell that story through music by using the idea of a road as a spiritual journey. My hope is that the journey helps listeners recognize their need for Christ and discover the salvation, grace, and new life found in Him."

Musically, "The Road" combines an energetic contemporary Christian arrangement with rock influences. Heartfelt vocals and memorable melodies help carry its Gospel message.
