JRP Virtual, A Casting Call, Inc. Company, congratulates John Robert Powers alum Dakota Johnson on Verity, the Colleen Hoover thriller opening in theaters Friday, October 2, 2026.
CHICAGO - TelAve -- John Robert Powers (JRP) alum Dakota Johnson stars opposite Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett in Verity, the Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling psychological thriller, opening in theaters Friday, October 2, 2026. JRP Virtual, A Casting Call, Inc. Company, is celebrating the release as part of its ongoing recognition of performers who got their start at JRP.
In Verity, Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired to ghostwrite for celebrated author Verity Crawford (Hathaway). After Lowen moves into the remote Crawford estate, she uncovers what appear to be Verity's autobiographical notes, and their disturbing confessions about Verity's husband, Jeremy (Hartnett), make it hard for her to tell fiction from reality. Michael Showalter (The Idea of You) directs, and Johnson also serves as an executive producer. Amazon MGM Studios is releasing the film wide in theaters in the United States and Canada, and Sony Pictures Releasing International is handling the release outside North America. The film is rated R.

Johnson got her start at JRP before building one of the most distinctive careers in film. Her screen work includes David Fincher's The Social Network, the Fifty Shades film trilogy, in which she played Anastasia Steele, Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria, Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Lost Daughter, and Celine Song's Materialists. Today, JRP Virtual, a Casting Call, Inc. company, continues the John Robert Powers legacy that began in 1923, offering online training for aspiring actors, models, singers, and dancers at jrpvirtual.com.
"We are so proud of Dakota," said Brigitte Blair, Director of Operations, JRP Virtual. "She has built her career on bold choices and real commitment to her craft, and watching her take on a role like Lowen in Verity is a joy. Every young performer who trains with us dreams of one day doing work they love at that level. Congratulations to Dakota and the entire Verity team."
