Johnson Advisory Group Puts Data into Action to Support Orange County Families and Small Businesses
TelAve News/10905654
ORLANDO, Fla. - TelAve -- How can communities make the greatest impact with limited time and resources? For Johnson Advisory Group, the answer begins with data and extends through partnerships, advocacy, and hands-on community engagement. The Florida-based public affairs firm is focusing its Orange County efforts on two areas critical to long-term prosperity: early childhood education and support for women- and minority-owned small businesses.
During a strategic planning process, Johnson Advisory Group identified ZIP codes 32822 and 32839 as areas facing significant educational and economic challenges. The findings prompted the firm to deepen partnerships supporting children and families, particularly those preparing for VPK and elementary school. "We knew immediately that we needed to be intentional about where we invested our time and how we could contribute," said Keisha Harris, Director of Business Development for Johnson Advisory Group. "There are tremendous organizations already doing this work. Our role is to strengthen those efforts, bring our expertise to the table, and help connect people to opportunities."

The firm's efforts include strategic counsel and volunteer engagement with the Orange County Coalition for the Homeless, supporting children and youth programming and providing meals to families. Staff members also volunteer as mentors through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, dedicating time each week to elementary school students. Johnson Advisory Group also helps women- and minority-owned businesses navigate government systems, including business licensing, Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification, and grant opportunities.
Through Orange County's "Opening Doors" initiative, the firm has helped clients attend workshops and provided follow-up guidance to ensure they understand the information and identify actionable steps. "Government programs can be incredibly valuable, but they don't always speak the language of the people they're designed to serve," Harris said. "Sometimes our role is to help a business owner understand the process, ask the right questions, and recognize the opportunity in front of them." For Johnson Advisory Group, sustainable community progress requires partnerships that extend beyond individual programs or political leadership. "Elected officials come and go, and leadership changes," Harris said. "Launching a promising program is one thing. Ensuring it has the partnerships, community support, and staying power to succeed over time is another."
