Justin Calabrese Reflects on a Lifelong Passion for Automobiles After Owning 27 Vehicles
TelAve News/10901175
HARTFORD / WATERBURY, Conn. - TelAve -- For entrepreneur and author Justin Calabrese, automobiles have always represented more than transportation. They reflect engineering, innovation, craftsmanship, and the ever-evolving technologies that continue to shape the automotive industry. Over the years, that curiosity has led Calabrese to own 27 different vehicles, spanning practical commuter cars, luxury sedans, high-performance sports cars, pickup trucks, SUVs, hybrids, and fully electric vehicles.
Rather than viewing vehicle ownership as collecting status symbols, Calabrese sees each vehicle as an opportunity to experience a different approach to design, performance, comfort, and technology.
"Every vehicle has its own personality," said Calabrese. "I enjoy learning what makes each manufacturer unique—from the way they engineer the driving experience to the technology they build into the vehicle."
His automotive journey has included an unusually diverse mix of manufacturers, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Maserati, Lexus, Lotus, Polestar, Subaru, Volkswagen, Toyota, Honda, Chevrolet, Ford, Hyundai, Jeep, Buick, and Mazda.

Among the most memorable vehicles in his ownership history are several that stand apart for their engineering and exclusivity. The Lotus Emira, one of the final gasoline-powered sports cars produced by Lotus before the company's transition toward electrification, offered a driver-focused experience rooted in lightweight performance. The Lexus LC 500 blended grand touring luxury with a naturally aspirated V8 engine and distinctive styling, earning praise from enthusiasts for combining comfort with exceptional craftsmanship.
Calabrese has also enjoyed driving vehicles that represented the industry's changing direction. The Maserati Ghibli SQ4 introduced Italian performance and design, while the Polestar 2 and Chevrolet Equinox EV showcased the rapid advancement of electric mobility. Along the way, dependable models from Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and Ford demonstrated how practical vehicles continue to evolve through improved safety, fuel efficiency, and technology.

Friends often ask why Calabrese changes vehicles so frequently. His answer is simple: curiosity.
"I've never been someone who buys a vehicle simply to keep it for decades," he explained. "I genuinely enjoy experiencing different brands, different engineering philosophies, and different driving experiences. Every vehicle teaches you something new."
That mindset mirrors the philosophy Calabrese brings to business. He believes continuous learning comes from exploring new ideas, evaluating different approaches, and remaining open to innovation rather than becoming comfortable with the familiar.
Today, his automotive journey reflects nearly every segment of the industry—from luxury European brands and Japanese reliability to American utility and the newest generation of electric vehicles. Each ownership experience has contributed to a broader appreciation for the creativity and engineering excellence found across the global automotive landscape.
While many enthusiasts remain loyal to a single manufacturer, Calabrese's experience has been defined by exploration.
