Kansas: Precautionary boil water advisory issued for area around 1401 Jackson Ave

~ Kansas City Water Issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in Response to Water Main Repairs
In response to a water main repair, KC Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for customers in the area of E 14th Terrace and Jackson Avenue. The advisory was issued out of an abundance of caution due to a loss of positive pressure on the water main during repairs. The estimated time for repairs to be completed is 6-8 hours.
Under the Boil Water Advisory, customers are advised to follow certain guidelines to ensure their safety. These include boiling all drinking water vigorously for three minutes before use, using boiled water for brushing teeth, and avoiding the use of un-boiled tap water for making ice or preparing food. Dishes and food contact surfaces can be disinfected using tap water with one teaspoon of household bleach per gallon.
While the tap water is safe for other purposes such as bathing, small children should be discouraged from swallowing bath water. KC Water will be sampling and testing the tap water in the affected area to ensure its quality and safety. Customers will receive notification from KC Water when the boil water advisory can be lifted, which typically takes 24 hours after testing.
