Long Beach Commemorates Demolition of City-Owned Properties on Atlantic Avenue Corridor

Long Beach, CA ~ On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, city officials and representatives from Vincor Construction, Inc. gathered to commemorate the demolition of commercial properties located at 5641-5649 Atlantic Ave in Long Beach, CA. The event was organized by the City of Long Beach Economic Development Department as part of their efforts to revitalize the North Long Beach community.
The demolition ceremony marked an important step towards the transformation of the Atlantic Avenue corridor and was attended by Mayor Rex Richardson. In his statement, Mayor Richardson expressed his excitement for the future development and investment opportunities that will arise from the removal of these structures. He also highlighted how this project aligns with the city's long-term vision for a vibrant and revitalized corridor.
The site being demolished consists of two commercial buildings and one undeveloped parcel. The demolition not only eliminates existing public hazards but also addresses safety concerns in the area. She also highlighted how this project will contribute to a safer and cleaner community for children.
The demolition project is expected to be completed in August 2025, after which developers can submit an interest form online to learn more about City-owned property offerings at the Surplus Land webpage. The Economic Development Department's Real Estate Development Bureau is playing a crucial role in advancing Long Beach's goal to become America's Next Great International City. They aim to foster a competitive real estate market with equitable economic opportunities for workers, investors, and entrepreneurs.
