LRP's National Institute's Sessions to Span Six Learning Tracks

More than 40 relevant and timely sessions from the nation's top legal experts will follow six topic-focused learning tracks, allowing attendees to customize their learning experiences to meet their professional development needs.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - TelAve -- LRP's National Institute on Legal Issues of Educating Individuals with Disabilities®, the leading source for best practices, compliance strategies, and case updates impacting special education programs, announced today six tailored learning tracks that will include more than 40 relevant sessions during the conference taking place April 26 - 29 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La.

The six focused tracks include:
  • Administration: This track is geared toward special education leaders who develop systems, programs, processes, and policies that strengthen the working environment, support student achievement, optimize resources, and enhance organizational outcomes.
  • Behavior: Special education directors, directors of school mental health and behavioral services, school psychologists, behavior specialists, clinical services coordinators, and trauma trainers will learn the latest strategies to approach discipline dilemmas and student mental health under federal laws.
  • Ethics: Attorneys can earn continuing legal education credits, or CLEs, by attending one or both sessions in this track based on application of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct in the special education context.
  • IDEA: With sessions for every role in special education, this track includes comprehensive coverage of schools' obligations to provide all children with disabilities with a free appropriate public education.
  • Section 504: The goal of this track is to assist Section 504 coordinators, administrators, social workers, counselors, and service providers in building a better understanding of how to avoid discrimination claims and provide all students an equal opportunity.
  • Special Ed ConnectionSM Users Group: In this track, attendees will learn how to maximize their subscription to Special Ed Connection and use this innovative online resource to advance staff knowledge and skills related to best practices, the latest court decisions, compliant policies, and more.
