Maryland: Governor Moore Inducts McGinnis Family into Governor's Agriculture Hall of Fame

~ Annapolis, MD - On Thursday, February 5th, Governor Wes Moore proudly inducted the Wayne McGinnis Family of Baltimore County into the prestigious Governor's Agriculture Hall of Fame during the 56th Annual Taste of Maryland Agriculture event. The event, which took place at Maryland Live! Casino and Hotel, also showcased a variety of agricultural products from the state.
The McGinnis family was honored as the 58th inductee into the Governor's Agriculture Hall of Fame for their unwavering commitment to agriculture and their community. Secretary Kevin Atticks expressed his admiration for the family's achievements, stating that they exemplify the spirit of Maryland's farming heritage.
Established in 1991 by former Governor William Donald Schaefer, the Governor's Agriculture Hall of Fame recognizes exceptional leaders in agriculture who have made significant contributions to their communities. Nominations are collected through local University of Maryland Extension offices and submitted to the Maryland Department of Agriculture's Hall of Fame Program coordinator.

The Taste of Maryland Agriculture celebration, sponsored by the Maryland Agriculture Council, is considered the state's premier agricultural gathering. It brings together industry leaders and state and national legislators to celebrate and support agriculture. The event featured a delightful array of Maryland agricultural products, including tastings from renowned beer, wine, and cidery producers.
In addition to honoring the McGinnis family, 11 outstanding programs were awarded with Maryland Agriculture Council Educational Grants during the event. This highlights the importance of education and innovation in the agricultural sector.
