Maryland: PUBLIC NOTICE: Unscheduled Mosquito Control Activity in Baltimore County Planned for September 15
TelAve News/10906341
ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 14, 2026) ~ Annapolis, MD - The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) has announced plans to expand mosquito control services in certain areas due to concerns over potential mosquito-borne diseases. This decision comes in cooperation with the Baltimore County Health Department.
On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, MDA's Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) truck-based spraying will take place in Hopkins Landing and surrounding areas. The spraying will occur after 7:30 p.m. ET and will cover Commodore Drive, Punte Lane, Seamaster Road, Walkern Road, Back River Neck Road, Glen Martin Lagoon Road, and Chesapeake Park Place. In case of inclement weather, the spraying will be rescheduled for Wednesday.
Residents in the affected areas are advised that any existing spray exemptions will be temporarily suspended during this time. MDA's Mosquito Control Program personnel will use a permethrin-based solution that has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for public health mosquito control programs.

While the solution is deemed safe for human health by the EPA, MDA recommends avoiding outdoor activities during spraying as a precautionary measure. It is important to note that not all mosquitoes carry diseases; however, residents are advised to take precautions to minimize their exposure to mosquito bites.
These precautions include wearing long, loose-fitting and light-colored clothing, using insect repellents according to product labels, avoiding mosquito-infested areas during peak activity times (dusk and dawn), regularly cleaning bird baths and pet food/water bowls, and removing or emptying any water-holding containers.
Residents can find routine spray program schedules by county on MDA's website and can contact the Mosquito Control Program at (410) 841-5870 with any questions or concerns.
The expansion of mosquito control services in these areas is a proactive measure taken by MDA and the Baltimore County Health Department to ensure public health and safety. By working together, they aim to minimize the risk of mosquito-borne diseases in the community.
