The My CHI. My Future job readiness curriculum is designed to equip participants with essential workplace skills, career awareness, and professional development opportunities. Over a period of six weeks, participants dedicated up to five hours each week to complete job readiness modules. These modules focused on developing skills such as communication, professionalism, teamwork, resume building, financial literacy, and career exploration.
DFSS Commissioner Angela Green highlighted how Chicago Youth Works goes beyond just providing summer jobs for young people. It also offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development opportunities that help them navigate the workplace and prepare for future careers. She also mentioned how through this curriculum, participants are building essential skills that will serve them well beyond this summer.
With workforce data showing challenges related to employee retention among younger workers, Chicago Youth Works is committed to strengthening job readiness and long-term career engagement by providing early workplace experiences and tools needed for future opportunities.
