~ As the highly anticipated College Football National Championship game between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Hurricanes draws near, the mayors of Bloomington, Indiana and Miami, Florida are joining in on the excitement with a show of civic camaraderie and a friendly competition.

Mayor Kerry Thomson of Bloomington and Mayor Eileen Higgins of Miami recently connected to wish each other well and celebrate the shared enthusiasm for the upcoming game in their respective communities. In a lighthearted exchange, the mayors have agreed to a friendly wager: if their team loses, they will send a signature pie from their city to the winning city. "This is all about community, connection, and enjoying a shared moment," stated Mayor Thomson. "It's exciting to celebrate something happening on a national stage while also keeping our focus on the people in our cities who are watching, talking, and enjoying it together."

Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins also expressed her enthusiasm for welcoming the Indiana Hoosiers and their fans to South Florida for the championship game. "I am thrilled to host this event in our city and look forward to an evening of fun competition with our friends from Indiana," she said. "And I can't wait to try out the famous Indiana sugar cream pie from Two Sticks Bakery! Go Canes!"

Both mayors emphasized that this wager is meant to be ceremonial and community-focused rather than solely focused on competition. It serves as an opportunity to highlight connection between cities rather than rivalry.

The College Football Playoff National Championship is set to take place on Monday, January 19th. Fans from both cities are eagerly anticipating this exciting matchup between two talented teams.
