Owner Identifies a Need for Medically Supervised Weight Loss Programs in Portland
BEAVERTON, Ore. - TelAve -- BEAVERTON, OR – October 13, 2025 -- The rise in semaglutides and GLP-1s such as Ozempic is stirring a weight loss revolution, which prompted one area entrepreneur to take action. Paul Rhynard, a Medi-Weightloss franchisee, said a gap in medically supervised weight loss clinics in the Portland area was the perfect opportunity for him to open four locations in Portland, with a 2030 target of 10 clinics in the broader region.
"Obesity is still a significant issue, despite the outdoorsy nature of many residents in Portland," Rhynard said. "Our vision is to positively impact the lives of 10,000 patients across 10 unique locations in the Pacific Northwest by the end of 2030. It's ambitious, but the needs are significant and we strongly believe we can help a lot of people find wellness through weight loss."
The grand opening of the first Medi-Weightloss in Beaverton is slated for October 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 4655 SW Griffith Drive, Suite 120. Prizes and giveaways will be available for those in attendance. Prizes include free water bottles, free consultations, B-12 shots, and protein shakes and bars.

Rhynard added that with the rise and prevalence of GLP-1s, demand for medically driven weight loss programs is skyrocketing. However, many programs designed solely around GLP-1s do not offer post weight loss support. He noted while pharmaceuticals are highly effective, they must be paired with nutrition, fitness, and behavioral change.
"We all want miracle drugs and the "easy button," but true, sustainable and healthy weight loss takes work and it requires change," he added.
Medi-Weightloss, the leader in medically supervised weight loss franchises in the U.S., currently has more than 110 locations nationwide with an additional 18 in various stages of development. The company's goal is to open an additional 25 locations in 2025 and another 25 in 2026. CEO Brian Petranick said franchise locations will continue to thrive with a business model that drives both impact and profitability.
"Our franchisees aren't just building a business -- they're changing lives," he said. "And with the support of a seasoned leadership team, comprehensive training, and proven systems, they're doing it with confidence. For those looking for a purpose-driven business with a high-growth opportunity, Medi-Weightloss stands out."
