Mesa: Boeing Earns AAED Best of Arizona Award
TelAve News/10893997
~ The City of Mesa is proud to recognize The Boeing Company for their outstanding contributions to the state's aerospace and defense industry. The company has been awarded the Best of Arizona Award by the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) for their exceptional economic impact and long-standing leadership in the field.
Boeing's presence in Arizona is primarily based in Mesa, where they have been producing AH-64 Apache helicopters and advanced aerospace manufacturing for many years. With over 4,500 employees and partnerships with more than 270 suppliers and vendors statewide, Boeing has made a significant impact on the economy of Arizona. It is estimated that their operations support around 49,000 direct and indirect jobs and have generated $1.1 billion in supplier spending in 2025.
Mayor Mark Freeman expressed his gratitude towards Boeing, stating that they have been one of Mesa's most important economic partners for generations. He believes that this award is a testament to the company's tremendous contribution not only to Mesa but also to the entire state's economy.

The Best of Arizona Award also recognizes Boeing's long-term commitment to Mesa through major Apache-related contracts. These include a $4.7 billion U.S. Army contract that will support production in Mesa until at least 2032, as well as approximately $2.7 billion in post-production support and sustainment services through 2030. These investments have solidified Arizona's position as a global center for rotorcraft manufacturing, logistics, engineering, and sustainment.
City Manager Scott Butler also praised Boeing for their continued investment in Mesa, stating that it has created high-quality jobs and strengthened the city's supplier ecosystem. He believes that this recognition is well-deserved.
Boeing's operations extend beyond Mesa to Chandler and Goodyear, supporting various aspects of the aerospace industry such as manufacturing, logistics, supply chain management, and engineering. The company also partners with universities, community colleges, and technical institutions to strengthen the workforce pipeline through internships, apprenticeships, STEM collaboration, and veteran transition programs.
