This annual award honors cities with a population of 500,000 or more that are utilizing technology, data, and innovation to improve government transparency and engage with their community.
City Manager Scott Butler expressed his pride in Mesa's achievement, stating that their top ten ranking reflects their dedication to modernizing city services and making decisions based on reliable data. He also emphasized their continuous efforts to better serve residents and how this recognition showcases the success of using technology and data to drive innovation and efficiency.
Mesa's recognition also highlights their commitment to using technology to expand economic opportunities and provide digital access for all residents. The city offers support for small businesses and entrepreneurs through initiatives like the Mesa Business Builder program and the City's Studios facility. These programs help businesses launch, grow, and compete in a modern economy. Additionally, Mesa is working towards ensuring affordable high-speed internet access throughout the city, recognizing digital connectivity as essential infrastructure.
