13-Year-old craft brewery shares insights on community building, live music programming, and navigating hemp beverage regulations

DULUTH, Minn. - TelAve -- Midwest Microbrew, a leading craft beer directory connecting consumers with local breweries, published an in-depth interview with Bent Paddle Brewing's Marketing and Content Coordinator. The conversation highlights the brewery's evolution from a small production facility to a cornerstone of Duluth's Lincoln Park Craft District.

Bent Paddle Brewing has operated in Duluth for 13 years, establishing itself as a community hub through consistent live music programming, family-friendly events, and innovative beverage offerings. The brewery relocated to its current 14,000-square-foot space in 2018, enabling expanded operations including a pilot brewery for experimental releases.

"We're outdoorsy, community-based, and family-friendly," said the marketing coordinator during the interview. "We've been around for a while and have really been able to adapt to things." The brewery hosts live music Thursday through Saturday, with additional programming throughout the week, all while maintaining an all-ages welcoming environment.

The interview revealed Bent Paddle's strategic response to evolving consumer preferences, particularly through hemp-derived THC beverages. The brewery's Heightened line has become a significant revenue driver, though recent federal legislation creates uncertainty for the category. "It's making up a big part of our revenue," the coordinator explained. "We're optimistic that we'll get some hemp information in the next year."

Bent Paddle's flagship Bent Hop IPA remains the brewery's most popular offering, described as "a classic IPA that's hoppy, delicious, and refreshing." The beer has won multiple awards and maintains devoted followers among both staff and customers. The brewery also produces seasonal favorites including Christmas Cookie Cream Ale, featuring almond and cardamom notes inspired by spritz cookies.

Two major annual events anchor Bent Paddle's community engagement: Festiversary, a spring neighborhood block party celebrating the brewery's anniversary, and the Haunted Paddle Party, a Halloween costume celebration. Both events feature multiple stages of live music and attract hundreds of attendees.

The brewery's Lincoln Park Craft District location positions it strategically between Minnesota's North Shore and the Twin Cities, creating steady traffic from both local regulars and travelers. "We have some people that come back seasonally and then some people who are in here pretty regularly throughout the week," the coordinator noted.

Midwest Microbrew's interview series aims to connect craft beer enthusiasts with the stories behind their favorite breweries while helping travelers discover new destinations.
