NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - On Thursday, July 2, 2026, the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a distressing 911 call at 11:30 p.m. The caller reported smoke inside a structure located on the 1800 block of W Diehl Road. In response to the call, the Naperville ECC immediately dispatched a Full Still assignment consisting of two engines, one ladder truck, one medic unit and two battalion commanders.

Upon arrival at the scene, initial responders conducted an incident size-up and observed flames on the roof of the structure. As a result, the alarm was upgraded to a General Alarm assignment which added an additional engine, truck, battalion commander and heavy rescue team to assist in controlling the fire.

The first priority for crews was to ensure that all occupants had safely evacuated the building. Once this was confirmed, they launched an aggressive offensive fire attack. As they continued to assess the situation and determine the full extent of the fire, it became necessary to upgrade the assignment to a Box Alarm and later a 2nd Alarm Box.
