From Service to Strength: Navy Veteran Finds Purpose Through Coffee, Community, and Faith
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - TelAve -- Clarksville/Nashville, TN – After years of service in the U.S. Navy's aviation community, Petty Officer First Class (E6) Eric Fitzpatrick faced one of life's toughest battles — the transition from military service to civilian life while navigating mental health challenges and the struggle to find renewed purpose.
Through faith, resilience, and a deep sense of gratitude for each new day, Fitzpatrick turned his pain into purpose, founding The Roaring Bean Coffee Co., a veteran-owned espresso bar that now serves as both a business and a mission — to bring hope, connection, and quality coffee to others across Tennessee and beyond.
"There was a time when just getting out of bed felt like a victory," said Fitzpatrick. "But one day at a time, with gratitude and the help of others — just like we rely on our brothers and sisters in the military — I found a way forward. Starting The Roaring Bean reminded me that even small steps can lead to something beautiful. There's hope for every veteran out there. You're not alone — just keep pushing through today."

The Roaring Bean Coffee Co. specializes in weddings, corporate events, and private gatherings, offering custom espresso pop-ups that bring an elevated, handcrafted coffee experience directly to clients. Each event is more than just coffee service — it's a reminder of connection, community, and care, values deeply rooted in Fitzpatrick's Navy experience.
"As most veterans know, coffee is the blood of our military," Fitzpatrick added. "We wanted to make sure our coffee ran true—serving every cup with the same commitment to excellence I strived for as a sailor. Now, that same spirit drives us to bring joy and community to every event we serve."
Their signature roast, The Gatsby Reserve, symbolizes "the gold standard" — representing the pursuit of excellence, integrity, and resilience that defines both military life and entrepreneurship.
In addition to its focus on premium coffee, The Roaring Bean partners with local nonprofits and veteran organizations to support others in need. This November, the company will offer 30% off all drinks for veterans and active-duty military personnel at its upcoming Clarksville and Nashville pop-up events on November 8th and 15th.
