TelAve News/10889573
NEW ORLEANS - TelAve -- The City of New Orleans formally honored Dr. Rhonda Lawson with an official proclamation during the recent Ivory and Cream Affair Jazz Brunch, the flagship event of the 10th Annual Black History Month Literary Weekend, an event she founded in January 2017.
The proclamation, presented by Councilman Eugene Green and signed by all members of the New Orleans City Council, recognized Dr. Lawson's longstanding contributions to literature, author advocacy, and cultural empowerment. In a powerful extension of the moment, Councilman Green, the event's guest speaker, also presented proclamations to each of the 13 featured authors, underscoring the city's commitment to honoring literary excellence and cultural impact.
"To be recognized by my hometown on my milestone year of the Black History Month Literary Weekend was a true honor," said Dr. Lawson. "This proclamation solidifies my commitment to the written word and to the importance of protecting and uplifting creators in every space."
