~ On June 5th, City Manager Brian Platt and the Kansas City Park and Recreation Department will be kicking off their Summer Camp program. This year, they are offering two new camps: sports specialty and outdoor adventure. The camps will last for ten weeks and include educational enrichment opportunities, field trips, games, art projects, recreational sports, and more. Last year, over two thousand children attended the summer camp program. It is designed to keep kids active, engaged, and healthy all summer long in a safe environment. The camps include one field trip and a swimming trip every week. The kick-off event will take place at 8 a.m. at the Tony Aguirre Community Center located at 2050 W Pennway St in Kansas City, MO 64108.
