Integris and ARQUUS to demonstrate Next-Gen Composite Armoured Vehicle Door at Eurosatory

PARIS - TelAve -- Paris, France: Integris Composites is working with Arquus on developing and testing an advanced full-composite armoured vehicle door.

Compared with traditional metallic solutions, the composite design offers significant weight reduction, contributing to improved vehicle mobility and reduced maintenance requirements.

"Modern military vehicle programs are increasingly demanding solutions that combine protection, weight reduction, durability, and integration within a single architecture. This collaboration demonstrates how advanced composite technologies can deliver meaningful operational advantages while meeting highly demanding ballistic and blast requirements for next-generation combat vehicles." - Thomas Lerbret, Head of Project Management EMEA at Integris.

Structural Composites – a one-piece solution
Integris demonstrates how structural composite technologies can integrate multiple vehicle functions into a single lightweight solution, combining ballistic protection, structural integrity, insulation, armoured glazing integration, and locking systems within one architecture. Additional advantages include corrosion-free performance, lower magnetic and infrared signatures, enhanced acoustic properties, and increased design flexibility for future vehicle platforms.

Ballistic/blast protection + weight reduction = operational advantage
The collaboration has been launched to evaluate the ballistic performance, durability, survivability, and mass-saving potential of a full composite door architecture compared with conventional armoured door systems based on steel structures combined with add-on armour solutions.

Designed to meet demanding operational requirements, while also addressing lateral mine blast and IED fragmentation threats. The system is additionally undergoing extensive environmental qualification, including vibration, shock, temperature exposure, and repeated opening and closing cycle testing to validate long-term operational performance.

The collaboration includes a complete sequence of material selection, static and dynamic composite characterization, ballistic firing trials, simulation and modelling activities, as well as blast and IED testing.

Integris will deliver the solution through its full in-house capability covering design, ballistic engineering, tooling development, simulation, manufacturing of large complex 3D composite structures, precision machining, and qualification testing for ballistic and blast performance.
