Not a Black Box Introduces 3rd Rodeo, Harness Built for HCM
TelAve News/10906204
Building both the platform and the harness unlocks new complex agentic workflows, including long-horizon tasks that run over days rather than minutes.
HAMMERSMITH, U.K. - TelAve -- Not a Black Box, Inc. today introduced 3rd Rodeo, the agent harness inside its talent operating system.
A harness is the layer around an AI model that gives it tools, memory, permissions, and a place to wait for human approvals. Instead of relying upon external agents, to perform these workflows via MCP.
The company's view is that an external harness is well suited to short, simple tasks (read, write) and less suited for long-horizon, multi-step workflows (act).
So the company built its own, along side its own application layer where every record is held in two forms at once: the interface a recruiter uses, and an AI Agent legible version carrying the record's policy and permitted actions alongside its data. A UK patent application was filed in June 2026.
Working together, the two layers are intended to support work that pauses and resumes. An agent that reaches an approval gate records where the task stands, takes up other work, and continues from that point once a person responds.

Because the harness sits with the record rather than outside it, every agent inherits the same approvals, permissions and audit trail instead of implementing its own.
Consequential actions pause for a person: the agent proposes, a human applies, and a ledger records who approved what and on what basis. An agent that reaches a gate notes where the work stands, takes up something else, and resumes when the answer comes.
"The system of record (like an ATS, CRM, or an HCM) owns the truth. The harness owns the work," said Bill Fischer, founder of Not a Black Box. "Connecting an agent to an HR system is straightforward now, and most vendors have done it. Keeping a piece of work alive for two days while it waits on an approval, then finishing it properly, is the part we had to build."
