NYRA Tech Corporation Unveils BortleBuddy: AI & Advanced AR App for Astrophotography Planning
TelAve News/10902142
A Texas startup NYRA Tech Corporation is building an all-in-one AI and advanced augmented reality app for astrophotographers, with a limited early release planned for experienced photographers ahead of a broader public launch later this summer.
DALLAS - TelAve -- DALLAS, Texas — NYRA Tech Corporation today announced BortleBuddy, an all-in-one mobile app whose core objective is to simplify astrophotography planning for photographers of all skill levels. Powered by specialized artificial intelligence and advance augmented reality (AR), BortleBuddy unifies a historically fragmented workflow into a single platform. The company is targeting an initial rollout in August or September 2026.
Capturing deep-sky objects or the Milky Way requires a precise alignment of complex factors: cloud cover, light pollution, moon phase, atmospheric transparency, and celestial timing. Today, photographers juggle a half-dozen disconnected tools—jumping between weather apps, light pollution maps, star charts, and planning calculators. BortleBuddy replaces this friction with a unified, purpose-built ecosystem so photographers spend less time cross-referencing screens and more time behind the lens.

The application integrates satellite light pollution data, detailed sky forecasts, and an interactive AR night sky view, allowing users to visualize celestial alignment during pre-shoot planning and directly in the field.
At the platform's core is BortleGPT, an AI assistant built on a large language model fine-tuned strictly for observational astronomy and field photography. BortleGPT is strictly task-focused: ask it how to frame and expose a shot from a specific location, and it draws on real-time atmospheric data to guide you step-by-step—delivering the expertise of a seasoned photographer standing beside you in the dark.
"Every astrophotographer has stood in a field at two in the morning wishing an expert were standing right beside them," said the company's founder and CEO. "That is the gap BortleBuddy closes. We aren't building a general-purpose utility; we are building a dedicated companion tailored entirely to this craft."
The underlying technology behind BortleBuddy is patent-pending.

The project grew out of personal necessity. The company's founder took up astrophotography in 2019, encountering the tedious tangle of tools required for a single shoot—all while chasing increasingly rare dark skies. Beyond software utility, the team built BortleBuddy with a broader conservation mission: raising awareness about light pollution's impact on human health, bird migration, and energy waste.
Ahead of the launch, the company released a free, interactive Light Pollution Map built alongside light pollution researchers, accessible at https://app.bortlebuddy.com/lightpollutionmap.
BortleBuddy will roll out in phases, beginning with a private beta for experienced astrophotographers before its broader public release. To request early access, visit https://bortlebuddy.com.
