Oom Yung Doe Students Demonstrate Skill and Spirit at Our Fall Tournament
KIRKLAND, Wash. - TelAve -- Kirkland, WA - The Kirkland Oom Yung Doe school hosted its annual Fall Tournament this month, bringing together students, instructors, families, and friends for a day of demonstration, learning, and community. Twenty-four students participated in the event, performing both empty-hand forms and traditional weapons demonstrations while guests filled the school to watch and support.
The tournament opened with instructor demonstrations, highlighting the precision, focus, and discipline that define Oom Yung Doe training. Each student performance showed how consistent practice builds coordination, strength, and confidence. For newer students, this was their first chance to present what they have learned in front of an audience, while experienced students demonstrated the power and grace that come with years of dedication.
As Grandmaster "Iron" Kim often taught, "Winning over others is victory, winning over yourself is success." That spirit guided every participant, reminding students that the real goal of training and tournaments is personal growth and self-mastery.
