PEERS Foundation Partners with eBrake to Eliminate Distracted Driving
TelAve News/10578652
Record levels of fatalities due to distracted driving demand a comprehensive eradication strategy. Two key components: education and technology.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - April 30, 2019 - TelAve -- The PEERS Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, that creates innovative, interactive, educational events that engage youth, community members and the business sector and empowers them to make informed, mindful, decisions related to safety, health, and educational goals; and eBrake, a proprietary new distracted driving innovation for smartphones and tablets, today announced a strategic partnership to eliminate the crashes and resulting fatalities caused by distracted driving.
In forming this strategic partnership, PEERS and eBrake will combine forces to (1) educate drivers about the dangers of distracted driving using PEERS' augmented reality distracted driving simulator (ARDDES) and (2) promote the activation of eBrake within families, fleets, employers, employees, and communities across the country. The partnership will also support the corporate policies, laws, and enforcement that mandates the use of hands-free technologies for drivers of any type of vehicle.

"We recognize that education alone will not solve the distracted driving epidemic," said Mike Seymore, Chairman of the Board at PEERS. "That's why we sought a technology solution to advocate. eBrake's proprietary technology makes it physically impossible for a driver to engage with their device while driving making the partnership decision an easy one."
"We're extremely excited to partner with the PEERS Foundation to tackle the distracted driving problem and to educate youth on its dangers," said Troy Spracklin, CEO at eBrake Technologies. "We look forward to working with PEERS to educate and protect families and employees from distracted driving from coast to coast."
When eBrake detects motion, it locks the device and blocks incoming notifications. Most importantly, eBrake cannot be turned-off or shut-down by the driver when the vehicle is in motion. Bluetooth and voice activated systems are unaffected. eBrake can be customized to allow easy viewing of any application, like maps or music, while blocking the ability to interact with the device.

Despite updated laws, fines, new technology solutions and public relation campaigns, the distracted driving problem is getting worse. Each day in the United States, approximately nine people are killed and more than 1,000 injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver; and texting while driving is 6X more likely to cause an accident than drunk driving.
About eBrake
eBrake is the only hardware-free distracted driving solution that has developed an innovative and proprietary new passenger unlock test that activates and blocks device access when vehicle motion is detected. The test prevents drivers from unlocking and accessing their device while driving, but leaves passengers unaffected. Please visit for more details. ebrake.ca.
