With Amerikan XX, Pakistani American artist and singer Phatso Brown documents the contradictions of the American experience through a sound that feels both nostalgic and completely unknown — like 90s alternative pop transmitted through a broken machine from a parallel universe. Shades of Prince, Timbaland, Baxter Dury, and even Beck dance around themes of lust, betrayal, materialism, narcissism, alienation, and power.

Blending alternative, electronic, and hip hop influences, Amerikan XX explores the highs, lows, triumphs, failures, and beautifully chaotic moments of life inside the American dream. It is a story of discovery and disillusionment — the promise, the pressure, the freedom, and the madness.
