Ruger Family Farm Announces Limited Seasonal Availability of Pasture-Raised Pork
TelAve News/10890283
FENTON, Iowa - TelAve -- Fenton, IA — Ruger Family Farm, a family-run pasture-raised pork farm near Fenton, Iowa, is reminding customers that pasture-raised pork is seasonal and limited, with availability tied directly to the natural pace of raising pigs outdoors on pasture.
Unlike industrial pork systems designed for year-round volume, Ruger Family Farm raises pigs in small groups, allowing them to grow naturally with the seasons. As a result, pork is offered in limited quantities, and customers are encouraged to reserve their pork in advance.
"Our operation is seasonal," said Paul Ruger, owner of Ruger Family Farm. "It is best for the pigs to consume fresh plants and the only way to do this is during the growing season. As a results our pasture-pork operation must be seasonal to coincide."
Ruger Family Farm sells pork by the half or whole hog, allowing families to stock their freezers with custom cuts processed at the local family-run locker. This bulk-purchase model helps customers plan ahead while ensuring the farm can raise animals responsibly without overextending the land.

The farm serves families throughout northern Iowa and southern Minnesota, including Algona, Spirit Lake, Clear Lake, Fort Dodge, Mason City, Estherville, Forest City, and Fairmont. Because quantities are limited each season, early reservations are strongly encouraged.
By working within natural limits rather than industrial scale, Ruger Family Farm prioritizes animal welfare, soil health, and long-term sustainability—providing pork raised with intention, not shortcuts.
