San Jose's Accessible Sunday Brings Inclusivity to Christmas in the Park
SAN JOSE, Calif. - TelAve -- San Jose's Accessible Sunday Brings Inclusivity to Christmas in the Park
San Jose's long-standing Christmas in the Park, a holiday tradition for nearly half a century, is placing a renewed focus on community inclusivity with its Accessible Sunday event. Scheduled for December 8, the event offers an adaptive holiday experience for families with disabilities, featuring sensory-friendly activities and a welcoming atmosphere.
Accessible Sunday is an effort to make the festivities more accommodating. Adjustments include removing loud music, creating interactive, barrier-free displays, and offering visits with a specialized Sensory Santa, trained to connect with children in a comfortable manner.

Community engagement is central to the event. Alongside traditional holiday offerings, the event hosts a Resource Fair, featuring local organizations providing services and support for families navigating disability-related challenges.
Collaborating with Doca Festival this year, Accessible Sunday also incorporates creative elements designed to enhance the experience. This partnership reflects the shared commitment of local organizations to fostering a sense of belonging and celebration in San Jose's diverse community.
"This is about bringing the community together and making sure everyone feels part of the holiday joy," said an event spokesperson.
For families, the event offers much more than just accessibility—it's a chance to participate in a growing tradition that prioritizes inclusion and representation.
