San Miguel de Allende conquers the # 1 spot in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers 'Choice Awards 2021 for the fifth Time
TelAve News/10707289
NEW YORK - TelAve -- San Miguel de Allende has won for the 5th time the highest prize in the Condé Nast Traveler's Reader's Choice Awards; Its appearance in this prestigious list dates to 2013, replicating in the years 2017, 2018, 2020 and in 2021. Over the course of these years, it has been awarded as "Best Small City in the World" and "Best Small City outside the US".
San Miguel de Allende is known as "The Heart of Mexico", not only for its central location but for its vast history and unwavering interest in preserving Mexican culture and traditions. The Mexican independence movement was started in San Miguel de Allende and during the 1960s, it became one of the main colonial destinations in the country, when expats were attracted by its natural lighting, architecture and vegetation.
The best way to visit and get to know San Miguel de Allende is by walking through its streets and being surprised by the cobbled stone and picturesque alleys. Visitors will find a surreal city, with colorful walls, mansions with balconies, doors and restaurants with fabulous terraces that invite you to end the day admiring the sunsets over the city.

Some of the most famous terraces are Quince Rooftop, which due to its privileged location, just a few blocks from the main square, has one of the most impressive views of the well-known San Miguel Arcangel Church; or like Trazo 1810, which in 2020 was named one of the 120 best restaurants in Mexico, for its creative cuisine, in the Gastronomic Guide to Mexico.
For a high view, Antonia Bistro is the option. From here, you can see the main historical monuments accompanied by an excellent gastronomic proposal that combines experience and innovation; while the award-winning Rosewood hotel with its Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar restaurant is the perfect space to admire the colorful landscape of San Miguel de Allende.
In addition to the recognition of the city, 5 hotels in San Miguel de Allende made it to the list "Top 20 Hotels in Mexico"; Hotel Nena No. 16, Rosewood San Miguel de Allende No. 14, Dos Casas Hotel & Spa No. 10, Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada No. 6 and topping the list as the Best Hotel, is Hotel Matilda.
